Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) has reported a cluster of COVID 19 positive cases. The first cases were identified last weekend and the base imposed some measures to prevent a wider spread. As announced on Wednesday this week there were 22 identified cases, some with no traceable link. MPC believe they have the outbreak under control and plan to re-open access to the base this Saturday.

In light of the current situation at MPC and the easing of COVID restrictions on the 4th May, Falkland Islands Government is advising the public to take personal responsibility in adopting enhanced protective measures including social distancing, hand washing and to consider wearing face coverings. The Government still intend to ease restrictions across the islands on the planned date of 4th May.
