Falkland Islands Celebrates St Helena Day

Back in 1502 on the 21st of May, it’s thought that an island was discovered off the coast of Africa. It was named Santa Helena, after the Saint Helena of Constantinople. Since 1945, the people of St Helena have celebrated their national day on 21st May. The Falkland Islands have close ties with St Helena, and on Thursday a reception was held at Government House to mark the occasion.
