In November 2020 the Falkland Islands were declared mine-free for the first time in nearly 40 years as the final detonation went off at Yorke Bay.

But why did the process of demining take so long? In this first part of a four part series Olly looks at what happened immediately after the 1982 conflict and why de-mining would prove more difficult than first thought.
