Initial shipment of Tommy's arrive in the Islands

A new display that will commemorate Armistice Day and the British soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the 1982 Liberation of the Falklands arrived in Stanley this week.

103 ‘Tommy’ silhouettes arrived in containers ready to be installed for November 11th, to recognise 103 years since the Armistice signing.

A separate display of 258 silhouettes will follow afterwards as part of 40th anniversary celebrations in the Islands. The project has been masterminded by UK-based not-for-profit organisation ‘Standing With Giants’.

We caught up with their founder, Dan Barton about his memories of 1982 and the huge amount of work that has been put into the campaign so far.
