At 9 o’clock in the evening of 14th June 1982, the commander of the Argentine garrison in Stanley, General Menendez, surrendered to Major General Jeremy Moore. This ended the 74 day occupation of the Falkland Islands by Argentina. This year, the traditional service and act of remembrance took place on Wednesday.
