'Mini-Chandlery' to be built on Sappers Hill

A new convenience shop is set to be built on Sappers Hill after receiving planning permission this week.

In what has been dubbed the “Mini-Chandlery”, the shop will be located on Diamond Jubilee Road and share a car park with the Stepping Stones nursery, which is also currently under construction.

Seafish Falklands Ltd, who also own the Chandlery supermarket, will be operate the day-to-day running of the new shop.

The company plan to complete groundworks and site preparations before the end of Summer, aiming for an April to May opening time.

It was agreed that site will be able to open from 7am to 9pm from Mondays to Saturdays and 8am to 7pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

CEO of Seafish Falklands, Hamish Wylie, told noted:

There’s been an ever increasing number of people saying…’when are you going to build a shop up Sappers Hill’? We’ve always intended to do so, it’s just waiting for there to be enough buildings here and then start the ball rolling.
