The suitability of the Falkland Islands Community School (FICS) and Infant Junior School (IJS) buildings were a topic for discussion in this week’s Education Committee.
It was said that while the size of FICS is fine, the layout of the Community School is not as useful as it could be.
The committee also discussed the suitability of the IJS site and it was noted that building a new junior school should be included in the capital plan.
Concerns were raised that over the years a few reports have been produced on this topic but no action has been taken. Director of Education, Sarah Stannard, told the committee that with FICS, the next steps would be a plan and not another report.
