The final case in the Summary Court on Wednesday was Mr Coban Erickson. Mr Erickson was charged with theft of a motorcycle without the consent of the owner and riding a motorcycle without protective headgear, license or insurance, to which he pleaded guilty.
On the 26th July Mr Erickson was seen riding the stolen motorcycle in Stanley and on the MPA road by a police officer. The officer proceeded to pursue Mr Erickson to Boot Hill where he was arrested. The motorcycle was stored at Mr Erickson’s property; however, the owner had not given him permission to ride it.
Defence lawyer, Ms Alison Ingles said Mr Erickson is a “vulnerable adult involved in government support programmes” and asked this to be taken into account during sentencing.
An application to issue a pre-sentence report was accepted and Mr Erickson will be sentenced on the 2nd of November.
