In this week’s programme, Members of the Legislative Assembly reach a decision on the 2025/26 Budget. The planned public consultation on salmon farming has been delayed, and MLAs John Pollard and Pete Biggs attend the United Nations C24 conference on decolonisation. The Transport Advisory Committee announces that camp ramps and jetty construction projects are expected to exceed their initial budgets. We also hear about the next steps to reduce the VSAT licence fee, following Executive Council’s approval to lower it, and the Falkland Islands Government launches a public consultation to better understand how television and radio services are used across the Islands.
After the break, we commemorate Liberation Day, welcome the new Commander of British Forces South Atlantic Islands, Brigadier Charlie Harmer, at a Government House reception, and attend another reception for athletes travelling to the Orkney Islands for the 2025 Island Games. Plus, Falklands students become the first on the Islands to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, and we look at a new Falklands stamp celebrating the 147th anniversary of the first one sold in the Islands.
