A written summary provided by the candidate outlining their background, experience and priorities.
The last few years have brought change in the Falkland Islands and globally. This election takes place during a period of unprecedented instability. In the years ahead, those you elect will be responsible for safeguarding our community from external interference while shaping a prosperous, secure future for all Falkland Islanders through economic growth and diversification.
If elected, I will champion thoughtful, people-centred policies that strengthen wellbeing, protect heritage, and support inclusive progress. Our focus must be on creating the right conditions for a resilient economy, one that improves opportunity for all and ensures the benefits of growth are widely felt.
Inflation remains a major concern for businesses and households. While global trends are beyond our control, we can act locally. With £1.7m profit from power generation expected, I will prioritise reducing the cost of living by lowering electricity prices to 25p per unit. Electricity costs are driving up the price of fuel, food, leisure activities, government operations and construction. This must be an immediate priority.
As we plan essential national infrastructure (power, waste, port) we must ensure charging policies do not place additional strain on families or discourage investment. We also need greater certainty for pensioners, who should not be left waiting for budgets while prices rise. A triple-lock style guarantee, ensuring annual increases of at least 2.5%, is a sensible minimum.
Encouraging young Falkland Islanders to live, work and raise families here requires making home ownership more accessible. Rising rents, land prices and construction costs have made family life increasingly difficult. Expanding the supply and variety of housing must be a core policy goal, and one we act on swiftly before hydrocarbons reshape local demand.
Protecting our pristine natural environment is essential. Long-term strategies are valuable, but we must also prioritise smaller, immediate improvements that benefit everyday life, particularly for our rural community. The next assembly must also deliver a clear Economic Development Strategy and lead open discussions on diversification to prevent further depopulation of camp and preserve our rural heritage.
I support hydrocarbon development only when staffing, legislation, infrastructure and housing are sufficient to manage it responsibly. I oppose large-scale aquaculture that conflicts with environmental or strategic priorities. We must complete the aquaculture consultation, ensure transparency in oil revenues, and maximise local benefit from all natural resource use.
Our healthcare and education systems are well run but vulnerable to staffing pressures and population growth. We must strengthen preventative healthcare, safeguard public services and begin sensitive discussions on modernising end-of-life care.
The right to self-determination is fundamental. We must remain vigilant, focus on diplomacy and continue strengthening our relationship with the UK to ensure lasting good governance.
The Falkland Islands are a complex, varied nation. I hope you will consider these priorities carefully and discuss them with me. We may not always agree, but my commitment is to sensible, forward-looking leadership that protects our environment, empowers our community and delivers a bright future for the Falkland Islands.

The first 250 words of the candidate’s manifesto.
Ten years ago, I made a choice. That choice was difficult, and there were two distinct paths before me. I weighed up my options endlessly, stuck between rejecting that change or embracing it; keeping everything as it was, or choosing another, unknown path, yet with more to gain. Ten years ago, the choice I made was to move to the Falkland Islands.
Change comes in many forms. The right change can improve lives, develop communities, and empower people. The wrong change, often enacted through fear or misunderstanding, disempowers and can be a threat to the well-being, heritage and cohesion of a community.
I’ve seen both types of change here in the Falklands, and each time a choice was made. I've seen our elected Members working to improve the lot of everyday people, investing in our future and ensuring we have a strong economy powered by the skills, knowledge and experience of Falkland Islanders. I’ve also seen elected Members support changes that would undermine hard-working families and some of the most vulnerable in our society.
This is not a unique situation; however, our response to it could be. We have the opportunity to make the right choices and be more proactive in our economic policies; to make financial decisions that both safeguard individuals’ well-being and allow continued long-term investment in our Islands. A rising cost of living and growing wage gap can and should be managed more readily in our small community.
Internationally, we can see the outcomes from similar policies...
