Falklands competitors performed well at this year’s World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships and Golden Shears in New Zealand.

Pilar Castro finished 7th in the semi-finals of the world wool handling, while Adam Dickson placed 2nd in his world shearing heat, later finishing 10th in the semi-finals.

Evan Jones came 16th in his world shearing heat and Logan Dickson placed 20th in the Junior Wool handling.

Talia Jones placed 9th in the Golden shears open wool handling top 20, narrowly missing the semi-finals.

She and teammate Pilar also finished 5th overall in the World Wool handling team’s event.

We spoke with Talia about her debut competition.
