Falkland In Focus | Week 735

In this week’s programme, Sure South Atlantic announces the proposed release of unlimited broadband packages for everyone in the Falklands. Telecoms consultants Cambridge MC highlight that a plurality of services and a range of technologies will be needed to ensure sufficient coverage across the Islands.

The Meeting of the Legislative Assembly also discusses the availability of produce delivered by SAAS, while a £30,000 subvention is granted to the Media Trust and additional funding to complete the MPA Road is authorised at the SFC. The Falkland Islands Government raises £150 million from L&G and Aberdeen Group PLC through private placements, retaining its global A+ credit rating with a stable outlook. Navitas partner Rockhopper Exploration PLC expects a final investment decision for phase 1 of the Sea Lion Oil development project by mid-2025.

After the break, we cover the Stanley Triathlon, the 20th SCB Stanley Marathon, and the return of gold hunting to the Falklands after 17 years. Local writer Rob Burnett launches his new novel Whiteout, and Tussac House officially opens its doors.
