In this week’s programme, the Falkland Islands Government Budget has been postponed following disagreement among Members of the Legislative Assembly over the final outcome. The UK Government signs an agreement to hand over sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, and Executive Council approves, in principle, contracts for the delivery and installation of the new port facility.
An Environmental Consultant hosts a series of talks on the potential development of salmon farming in the Falklands, and St Helena National Day is celebrated at Government House. We also bring coverage of the first commemorative service at the newly unveiled Cape Pembroke SAS Memorial.
After the break, the Governor hosts a reception in honour of senior Royal Marines officer Sir Charlie Stickland and Lady Stickland, who are visiting ahead of Landing Day, and we attend the Landing Day memorial service at San Carlos Cemetery.
