A Falklands record-breaking bowls tournament

The Falkland Islands Bowls Association hosted the inaugural George Paice Memorial Tournament, dedicated to the first lawn bowler to represent the Islands at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010.

Held at the outdoor rinks, the pair’s short mat competition saw 40 competitors – a new participation record for a Falklands bowls event.

The tournament was open to players of all levels, with each pair consisting of one experienced player and one newcomer.

Hayden Stanworth and Glenn Welch, triumphed winning the final against Theo Clifton and Oliver Thompson.

Michelle Townsend and Ian Barnes secured bronze.
