Efforts to re-establish a shipping link with Chile have taken a step forward, with representatives from a Valparaiso-based company visiting the Falklands this week.

Easter Island Naviera, which operates cargo services between Chile and Easter Island, has been meeting business leaders and Government officials to outline its proposals.

The company hopes the first cargo arrival could take place before the end of the year.
