Lyme disease is a bacterial infection passed on to humans through tick bites.
It isn’t present in the Falklands, but the issue has drawn attention recently because local Falkland Islands Government Air Service pilot Marilou Deleenyere has discovered she has the disease.
In response, some of her friends raised over £8000 for Lyme disease charities last week, by running along every active airstrip in East and West Falkland.
