Falklands Conservation is urging residents to reduce unnecessary outdoor lighting by houses and vehicles at night.

The campaign forms part of International Dark Sky Week, which looks to reduce light pollution to protect wildlife.

On the islands east of Stanley, young sooty shearwaters are beginning to fly, with bright lights leading to groundings where they become instantly vulnerable.
