The 14th August marks Falklands Day – commemorating the first recorded sighting of the Islands by Captain John Davis in 1592.

While Liberation Day is now regarded as the Falklands’ National Day, Falklands Day remains an important part of the Islands’ history.

A reception was held at Government House to mark the occasion.
