FIG Five-Year Plan Forecasts Pressure on Falklands Reserves

Falkland Islands Government’s 5-Year Plan suggests the Islands’ reserves ratio could dip below the desired 1 and a half times level by 2027/28. The Standing Finance Committee was shown forecasts for the coming years during a meeting two weeks ago and was warned that a shortfall of cash could occur if action isn’t taken to find funds from existing budgets. The high-spending capital programme is one of the key reasons for the projected shortfall and the Treasury says budgets will be tighter in the coming years.
