Housing was discussed at the public meeting, with the Financial Secretary stating in his presentation that there was an allowance in the Budget for preparing plots to be built on but not for constructing houses yet. At this week’s meeting of the Housing Committee, it was noted that there are currently 71 applicants for local housing, which is an increase of 7 since April. 54.93% of those are for 1-bed properties, with 32.9% requesting a 2-bed and 12.68% a 3-bed. 14 local tenants are on the transfer list, having requested a larger property or one in a different location. The Government are confident they can eventually meet this growing demand.
