An update on how Falkland Islands Government is working to implement the recommendations of the Telecommunications Select Committee was published this week.
The update gives the following timeline:
- In February: Executive Council will decide on policy changes and new licence fees.
- In March: A public consultation will take place if changes are approved.
- In April: Any amendments will go to the Legislative Assembly for formal approval, with new regulations taking effect upon publication.
The community have been eagerly awaiting an update on the Starlink situation, and with the service being shut off for many on Friday the 7th of February everyone is wondering what the future of the Falklands telecoms will look like.
