The Red Ensign flag flew side by side the Falklands flag on victory green for Merchant Navy Day on Tuesday. The annual event which takes place on the anniversary of the start of World War 2, pays tribute to merchant seafarers from the past, present and future. With merchant navy vessels such as the SS Atlantic Conveyor playing a part in the liberation of the Falkland Islands during the 82 conflict we decided to dig in to how they keep our waters safe.
