Concerns about high demand on housing in both contractor and local pools were raised during the latest Housing Committee. MLA Jack Ford raised the issue, highlighting that 28 private rentals properties which are part of the contractor pool are costing FIG and the tax payer due to being rented to tenants at a lower rate than they are costing FIG. 63 applicants are currently on the waiting list for local housing, and with the lack of available spaces and construction of new properties taking time, current demand is not being met.
