A written summary provided by the candidate outlining their background, experience and priorities.
I wish to thank PN for the opportunity to share with its readers a brief takeaway from my manifesto. The main document should be in your post box and on social media. I am a Falkland Islander; I was born in Stanley in 1964 and I have spent most of my life here. My father was an Engineer from Inverness, Scotland (so delighted we are off to the World Cup) and on my mother’s side date back our arrival as immigrants to January 1842. I worked for nearly 45 years at the Power Station. I was successful at College in the 1980’s and then in 1994, I graduated with 2:2 Honours in Electrical Engineering and Applied Science from Southampton University. I have a somewhat dated but insight nonetheless into the challenges of studying overseas.
In my manifesto I raise issues about what I believe are shortfalls with local banking and the challenges we face while travelling abroad without the power and flexibility of a Credit Card. The UK banking regulations changes which impacted us all with credit and current account closures at British Banks. I am critical of our Police Force. I make observations about Tender Boards, Occupational Pensions, Stanley Airport and Immigration.
The Civil Service cost is unsustainable and I believe salaries for local FIG employees have not kept pace with the cost of living. Something will have to give way.
The bicentennial anniversary of British reassertion of rule is some eight years away. Important to mark it with a few weeks of festivities. I am thinking sport, dances, bonfires, fireworks. The fun police will have a field day with at least two of those. I doubt this is on any priority listing and it is common for all of us to leave matters until the last minute. Be great to collate ideas now and plan and execute. The 100th anniversary was marked by the “Electrification of Stanley”. It seemed appropriate to me to mark the 200th Anniversary by achieving 100% “Electrification” with renewables.
I am keen to support sport locally with new or improved facilities.
I fully support the oil development. We and the rest of the world will need secure oil supplies for decades to come. This does also mean that work towards renewables and sustainable options continues.
I have never worked in the Private Sector but I am keen to learn and hear proposals as to how more of our nation building and growth can be delivered by local companies.
I am now in active retirement. I work in the Tourism Industry and help out former colleagues at the Power Station with high voltage work as and when they need me.
It is great to see such large numbers wanting to serve and represent us. We really have a lot to consider.
I once again direct you to my main manifesto for more content but meanwhile I thank you for your time.

Introduction
I am a Falkland Islander. I have lived and worked in the islands most of my life. One notable exception is that I spent seven years of my early childhood in Punta Arenas, Chile. I also took advantage of study opportunities that became available after the 1982 war. My work experience is limited to the public sector and working at the Power Station. I began work there as an apprentice in 1979 and retired to deliver the wind farm expansions in 2024. I quickly resigned from that role when it became clear that my vision for the projects did not align with others. I now keep busy as a tour guide and helping out my former colleagues with high voltage work as and when needed. My father was Scottish and arrived in the islands in 1947, he too worked at the Power Station and also worked as a diver. The arrival of my maternal ancestors(Biggs) dates back to January 1842 and our family make up is a common mix of parents with one probably just arrived and another going back many generations.
I am married to Janet, our two daughters are Kerri-Anne and Christine Aislinn and we are grandparents to Seth and Aimee. Our two cats, Lord Percy the 3rd and Toffee complete the family.
