500 Word Summary

A written summary provided by the candidate outlining their background, experience and priorities.

It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to provide FITV with a short summary about myself and my manifesto for the upcoming General Election.

What to say about myself? I am standing for election because I feel I have the ability and drive necessary for the role of MLA, and I want to play my part in ensuring a better future for this community that I am very proud to belong to.

I was honoured to serve as a Member of the Legislative Assembly during the 2017-2021 term where I held the Education and Community portfolio. Prior to entering politics, I spent ten years as a reporter for Falklands Radio and also worked for the Chamber of Commerce. Following my time as an MLA, I worked at FIDC before taking up my current role as Head of Communications for the Falkland Islands Government.

Outside of work, I am proud to be a Trustee of the Multicultural Falklands charity which holds events to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Falkland Islands. I am also a Trustee for the Citizens Advice Bureau, and the Little Islanders Alliance, which is a newly formed charity that works to promote partnership between our nurseries and childminders.

When it comes to the next four years of our Islands, prioritisation will be essential for the next Legislative Assembly as there are many pressing issues that need to be addressed and it will be necessary for a relentless sharp focus to be kept on the most important matters. That is why my manifesto focuses on what I feel are the key issues that need to be tackled: responsible economic management, infrastructure and housing; reformed telecommunications, environmental stewardship and strengthened education and training opportunities.

Government should empower individuals to reach their full potential, whether that is through providing equality of opportunity, economic opportunity and fair work, the provision of quality education from early years to adulthood, or accessible, high-quality healthcare. If elected I will work day in, day out towards these goals.

If elected I would offer leadership based on experience, integrity and an unwavering commitment to work as hard as I can to ensure that government does all it can to help individuals and families thrive in the years ahead.

I am looking forward to this election campaign and continuing to discuss with everyone the issues that are important to them. On the 11th December, I would be very grateful if you would consider voting for me.

What I offer
The Falkland Islands are a community where every person matters, where each individual
contributes to our shared success. It is this spirit of common purpose that makes our home so
special.

You deserve a future where individuals and families can not only get by, but thrive. A future built on
fairness, hard work and opportunity for all. A future where every person’s potential can be realised,
and where we move forward together as one community.

That is why I am standing for election, because achieving that future requires leaders with the drive,
experience and determination to make it happen. I believe I have those attributes; along with a
proven record of delivery, a commitment to serve with integrity, and the vision to guide us through
the challenges ahead.

If elected, my approach will be open, collaborative, and results driven. I will serve with focus and
humility, always mindful of how every decision affects people’s daily lives.

The Falkland Islands are entering a new stage of our development, one that brings both challenges
and opportunities. After a period of strong government revenues, we are now entering a more
difficult economic phase, one that will demand careful management, disciplined decision-making,
and…

Chamber of Commerce Hustings

FITV was invited to film the candidate hustings hosted by the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce. Candidates were divided into four groups by constituency: one group representing Camp and three groups representing Stanley. As part of the event, members of the Chamber were invited to submit questions to be put to the candidate panels in advance, and Chamber members in attendance were also able to ask follow-up questions from the floor.
