Ever wondered why there are ducks a plenty in the Islands? Well, PHD student, Alix Kristiansen may just have the answer for you. The budding Marine Biologist is researching the unusual species in a unique project “Ecology of the Falklands Steamer Ducks”. She has been out and about in and around Stanley actively tagging the ducks to collect data on the birds’ behaviour.
