Abortion policy discussed at Legislative Assembly

Information on abortion services in the Falkland Islands was made public in Legislative Assembly this week.

In most cases abortions are offered in the Falkland Islands for pregnancies up to nine weeks. Women are offered some support in travelling overseas to have a termination post nine weeks.

The debate in the Legislative Assembly was bought about by a Penguin News article from the 29th July headlined: ‘KEMH refuse information on access to abortion services in Falklands’ when a request for the information was refused.

Katharyn Daniels has the updates from the Assembly sitting.
