Falklands MLA Addresses Suspension of Travel Credit Scheme

During the budget Falkland Islands Government announced the suspension of the Travel Credit Scheme, which FIG say will save them £630,000 per year.

Travel must be paid for using credits before the end of June 2027, although any trips can take place afterwards.

This will however leave many Falkland Islands status holders without future financial assistance to travel, with a suggestion that it enhances the perceived divide between them and overseas workers.

After the Budget, MLA Cheryl Roberts reiterated this was not the case.
