South American Fur Seals are abundant in Falkland’s waters, feeding on squid and sunbathing on the rocky cliffs of the outer islands. But in the past ten years, they have become more and more interested in the bottom trawl squid fishing that the Falklands fishing industry is famous for. One scientist at the South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute was tasked to better understand why these mammals were doing just that.
