Technical Director for the Falkland Islands demining programme, John Hare, has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours.
The recognition was given to John Hare for services to the Falkland Islands Demining Programme.
The 10-year-long project concluded in 2020 when the final mines were detonated at Yorke Bay – the final minefield to be cleared.
A veteran of the 1982 conflict himself, John Hare worked on the demining project from 2014 until completion in 2020.
Speaking about receiving the award John Hare said he was: “delighted, a very nice New Years day gift.
“I’m very happy to receive it, I would have liked to see everyone in the team get one.”
