The ongoing discourse surrounding the two data breaches at the KEMH were raised by MLA John Birmingham during his portfolio report at this week’s LEGASS. The data breaches which occurred in 2021 and 2023 saw patient records accessed by two previous employees of the KEMH. The KEMH have previously issued an apology and stated that internal processes and procedures around accessing patient data have been strengthened.
