The Environment Department is due to contract out work relating to the introduction of marine managed and protected areas in the Falklands.

Up till now, the discussion of MMAs has been supported by SAERI who produced a comprehensive report that fed into a public consultation last year. Once established, it is expected that the new legislated areas will help to further protect the Falklands’ inshore waters and biodiversity.
