Last weekend was a special one for Derek “Smokey” Cole. A 1982 veteran, Smokey had a vision for those who served, their families and next of kin of those who died to have somewhere to stay during visits.

That led to Stanley’s Liberty Lodge opening back in 2002.

Now, on what may be his final visit to the Falklands, the Trust operating the Lodge have decided to honour his achievement.
