A 70% proposed increase to the service charge was discussed at the latest meeting of the budget select committee.

The proposed rate for service charges will see a £358.56 increase to the annual fee, from £505.44 to £864.00 for 2025 to 2026.

Members of the committee voiced their concerns at the drastic increase describing it as “shocking”.

Director of Public Works Colin Summers explained how increased costs in the delivery of vital infrastructure services like water, electricity and refuse collection is putting pressure on the upcoming budget.
