Conservation Work on New Island to Eradicate Invasive Species

Over past few weeks, Falklands Conservation has undertaken field work on New Island. The current research aims to understand the feasibility of eradicating invasive species which are causing harm to native plants and animals. Though the research is only in its first stages, the Darwin Plus funded project will continue over the next two years.

New Island has been under the care of the New Island conservation trust and the importance in making sure it continues to be protected is seen through its range of wildlife, especially birds, and its biodiversity.
