Sales of Falklands Wool Clip raised at Legislative Assembly

Less than half of the Falklands wool clip has been sold, with sales figures being “significantly behind” where they usually are.

Responding to a question in Legislative Assembly, MLA Barkman confirmed that around 35-45% of the wool clip has been sold as opposed to the usual 70% for this time of year.

The reasons for this was described as ‘varied’ but included low prices, shipping costs and inflationary pressures. It was said during the assembly that there is an indication that rural businesses are suffering, as MLAs discussed whether support could be provided.
